When you're dealing with a curious toddler who has a knack for putting everything in their mouth, and you still want to enjoy playdough time, it’s best to go with an edible option. Safety first, right? The evening started off on a creative note. Making silly faces was definitely high on our agenda. And trust me, it wasn’t enough to just see those funny faces on the table—we wanted to make them more personal. Who doesn’t love the idea of bugging eyes? It added an extra layer of fun to our playtime. After that, we got creative with cookie cutters. They provided the perfect opportunity to create some fun shapes. But let's be honest, smashing the dough down was way more entertaining than cutting it into neat little figures. There’s something oddly satisfying about squishing that soft, pliable material under your fingers. Molding the dough into specific designs requires focus—deep concentration even—so it can change shape just the way you want it to. Of course, smashing it back down into a blob was equally enjoyable. It was almost meditative, in a chaotic sort of way. We even attempted to craft a little snowman. My toddler, Baby Blue, loved the idea so much that she decided to build her own. But, predictably, she couldn’t resist snacking on the "arms" before they ever made it onto the snowman’s body. Food and playdough—it’s a match made in heaven. In the end, the highlight of the evening turned out to be the destruction phase. Baby Blue unleashed all her two-year-old energy on the dough, crumbling it into tiny pieces. She was absolutely thrilled to see how much she could break down. So, want to give this edible playdough a try? Mix equal parts cornstarch (or powdered milk) with creamy peanut butter. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can add powdered sugar or cocoa powder for extra flavor. Chocolate peanut butter playdough? Count me in! We also used raisins, golden raisins, and chocolate chips as decorations. The result? A night filled with food, creativity, and laughter! And hey, if you decide to make it, tag me in your creations—I’d love to see what you come up with!
