Rabbit breed: Gemstone Flower Rabbit

Zhang Zhanfeng, President of the Tang County Rex Rabbit Breeding Association in Shijiazhuang City, explained:

Gemstone Rex rabbits, also known as floral rabbits, are characterized by their unique coat patterns that resemble flowers. These rabbits have distinct markings on their fur, often featuring symmetrical spots and patterns. Their ears typically share the same color as the rest of their body, while their nose has small, spotted markings. The spots on the back, sides, and hindquarters are usually symmetrical, covering between 10% to 50% of the rabbit's total body surface.

The Gemstone Rex Rabbit breed can be classified into two main types based on their coat coloration. The first type features a predominantly white body with patches of other colors such as black, blue, or chocolate. This variety is often marked by a wide stripe along the back, a colored ring around the mouth, and circular markings on the face. The overall pattern is balanced and consistent, with symmetrical color distribution across the body.

The second type consists of a primarily white coat mixed with two additional colors, such as dark black, orange, purple-blue, light yellow, chocolate, light gray, and more. These color combinations create a striking visual effect. The spots are mainly located on the back, sides, and buttocks, and some rabbits may have butterfly-like patterns on their noses. Additionally, the eye color often matches the color of the spots, adding to the breed's distinctive appearance.

These rabbits are not only visually appealing but also popular among breeders and enthusiasts due to their unique characteristics and charming demeanor. Whether you're a seasoned breeder or a casual rabbit lover, the Gemstone Rex Rabbit offers an interesting blend of beauty and personality.
