The Gemstone Rex Rabbit, also known as the floral rabbit, is a unique breed characterized by its distinctive coat patterns. These rabbits display specific flower-like patterns on their fur, often featuring symmetrical markings. Their ears have the same color as the rest of their body, with small spotted nostrils and symmetrical spots on the back, sides, and hindquarters. The spotted area typically makes up between 10% to 50% of the rabbit’s total body surface.
There are two main categories of Gemstone Rex Rabbits based on their coat color. The first type features a white base coat with patches of other colors such as black, blue, or chocolate. This variety often has a wide color line running along the back, a colored ring around the mouth, and circular markings on the face. The body displays symmetrical patterns that complement the overall appearance.
The second type consists of a primarily white coat mixed with two other colors, such as dark black, orange, purple-blue, light yellow, chocolate, light gray, and more. These color combinations are usually distributed on the back, sides, and buttocks. Some individuals may have butterfly-shaped markings on their nose, and the eye color often matches the color of the spots, adding to the breed's visual appeal.
These rabbits are not only visually striking but also popular among breeders and enthusiasts for their unique characteristics and gentle temperament.
