In order to accurately and repeatedly measure the transmittance of optical lenses and other optical components in real time, the Ocean Optics USA R&D Center invented the Optical Transmission Spectrometer (OTS). This compact device measures the color, optical transmission and UV cutoff of ophthalmic lenses, optical coatings, glass and filters, as well as electrochromic solar lens materials that react to light.
The OTS consists of a high-resolution, miniature linear CCD spectrometer with a wavelength range of 380-780 nm. The system can be used for laboratory measurements with high transmission accuracy (+/-1.0%) and accuracy (+/-0.1%), measuring samples with a diameter of 10-76mm and a thickness of 15mm.
The high power 20W tungsten halogen source provides a consistent and continuous power output. High resolution lenses provide parallel beams. The sample fixture positions the sample and removes the effects of ambient light.
The Windows software system is responsible for calculating %T, color and other optical measurements to meet CE, UL, RoHS, WEEE requirements.
