China's demand for liquid dairy products will increase by 40%

Despite the recent controversy over the new national standard of the dairy industry, the Swiss food packaging giant Tetra Pak, which is a beneficiary of the development of China's normal-temperature milk market, continues to “sing” the Chinese dairy industry. According to predictions released by the company recently, China will become one of the fastest-growing dairy markets in the next decade. In 2013, the demand for liquid dairy products in China is expected to surge by more than 40% from 2009.

Tetra Pak reported that the fourth issue of the Tetra Pak Dairy Index report predicts consumption of milk and other liquid dairy products globally due to economic development, accelerated urbanization, and increased purchasing power of the Asian middle class from 2010 to 2020. The amount is expected to grow by about 30%. Among them, Asian market consumption will increase by 45%, accounting for half of the world, and China will become one of the fastest growing markets in the world in the next decade. It is estimated that the global demand for white milk and other liquid dairy products including flavored milk, drinking yoghurt, sweetened condensed milk, lactic acid drinks, and baby milk will be expected to reach about 350 billion liters in 2020, an increase over 2010. 80 billion liters.

According to Tetra, the demand for liquid dairy products in China in 2013 is expected to increase from about 25 billion liters to about 35 billion liters. Among them, the consumption of lactic acid beverages and milk for infants and young children rose by 60% and 50% respectively, which drove the growth in demand for dairy products. India, as the world’s largest milk consumer, will continue to grow its total population and create a huge potential market. By 2020, the consumption of liquid dairy products in China and India will account for one-third of the world's total consumption, while consumption in the Asia-Pacific region will continue to outpace the combined total of other markets. The index report said that about 51% of the white milk consumed by developing countries last year was sold in bulk, and it is expected that by 2014, the proportion of packaged milk consumption will rise to 55%. By 2020, this figure is expected to exceed 70%.
