Research shows that the asthma market in India increases by 10% annually

Business News Agency December 20th According to a new study, the asthma medicine market in India will increase from 246 million US dollars in 2009 to 403 million US dollars in 2014, with an annual growth rate of 10%.

The latest report from research firm Decision Resources shows that the growth is due to improvements in medical care conditions, rising numbers of high-income people, and brand-aware asthma patients, driven by greater demand for effective drugs. According to the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR), 1300 asthmatics in India exceed 15 years old, accounting for about 2% of the entire age group. Nearly 7 million patients are men, women have only 6 million, and the most serious age group is 15 to 35 years old.

Multinational pharmaceutical companies account for 5% of the total revenue of the asthma market in India. Although sales of branded asthma drugs in the West increased in 2014, these drugs will face fierce competition from lower-cost Indian brand drugs and generic drugs.
