How to ensure safe winter vines

1. Grasp the cold resistance of vines. When the ground temperature of the grape roots falls to -6 degrees Celsius, the root system will suffer from varying degrees of frost damage; when it falls below -8 degrees Celsius, it will be completely frozen. Therefore, the temperature of grape roots during hibernation should be kept below minus 6 degrees Celsius.

2. Pay attention to timely filling of frozen water. In the winter, 10 days before the grapes are buried in the cold, the frozen water should be filled once. The purpose is to prevent root freezing damage and drought in early spring. When irrigation, it is necessary to fill the soil. When the soil reaches a saturated state, it should be buried and kept cold when the soil on the ground is slightly dry. Do not overfill the ground for the first time. Buried the second cold-proof soil before freezing. At the same time, attention should also be paid to early burial of saplings, and large trees can be properly buried late. When burying the second cold-proof soil, it should cover the corn stalks or hay and then re-burie it, which can significantly increase the temperature of the grape roots, which is conducive to cold protection. The width of the buried soil shall not be less than 1.8-2 meters, and the thickness of the buried soil shall not be less than 60 centimeters. The front of the cold soil is trapezoidal, with a width of 1.2 meters. For the sake of safety and cold protection, it is best to keep the depth of the cold soil 80 centimeters deep.

3. Pay attention to the land point and back to the trench. The cold-proof soil must be taken between the rows on both sides of the main vine, not too close to the roots, so as not to damage the roots and frozen roots. Where there are irrigation conditions, the fetching ditch should be filled with water and frozen into ice after being frozen. This will not only reduce the thickness of the frozen soil, but also help the wintering of the root system and drought prevention in the late spring. Where there is no irrigation condition, it can also be used to cover the ditch with items such as grass, etc., to prevent the grape from being frozen.

When it is found that cracks appear on the cold-proof soil after entering the winter, the cracks should be covered with soil in time. In the January-February of the following year, especially when the weather is particularly cold, some cold-proof materials such as firewood or horse dung can be piled on the cold-proof soil to ensure that the grapes are not frozen.
