Planting Medicinal Herbs

At present, most of the Chinese herbal medicines are planted by farmers. There are many kinds of these herbs and their biological characteristics are different. During the growth of these Chinese herbal medicines, they are often exposed to various pests and diseases. The level of pest control of medicinal plants directly affects the yield and quality of Chinese herbal medicines. Under the conditions of market economy, the production and sales of Chinese herbal medicines are directly affected by market prices. What kinds of medicinal materials are planted by farmers are regulated by the market. In the prevention and control of pests and diseases, which pesticides to choose and which mode of application are also entirely determined by the farmers themselves.

A few years ago, the Institute of Medicinal Plants of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences undertook research on the status quo of the production of Chinese medicinal materials by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The key seeds, seedlings, and plant protection of Chinese herbal medicines were investigated. The status of plant protection is worrying.

One of the concerns: At present, China has no regulations or regulations for the use of pesticides for the production of Chinese medicinal materials. China's Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Health issued the "Pesticide Safe Use Regulations" in 1982, which stipulates that highly toxic pesticides are not allowed to be used in crops such as vegetables, fruit trees, and Chinese herbal medicines. There are no Chinese herbal medicines that are included in the category of chemical pesticides that can be used for the production of Class A green foods, and the types of toxicity, the grading of toxicity, the allowable final residue limits, and the time between the last application and the harvest interval. The "Pesticide Residue Test Guidelines" formulated by the Ministry of Agriculture's Pesticides Inspection Center mentions 17 crops of 91 pesticides, all of which are grains, fruits, and vegetables. For Chinese herbal medicines, it only reads "You can refer to the above crops. And set." It is understood that there have been the promulgation of pesticide residue standards for botanical drugs abroad, such as the red ginseng and senna in the Japanese Pharmacopoeia. The lack of regulations on the use of pesticides in the production of medicinal herbs in China has created an objective reality that there is no legal basis for production and supervision, and the use of pesticides is in a state of laissez-faire.

Concern 2: The grower farmers of medicinal materials lack basic knowledge of plant protection and abuse of pesticides is very serious. Farmers fight drugs as soon as they see insects. Their selection criteria for pesticides is effective. Second, the price is cheap, and little consideration is given to the effect of pesticide toxicity on the quality of medicinal materials. This year, we conducted a survey in the pesticide sales department of a certain medicinal material production area and found that farmers mainly purchase highly toxic pesticides such as omethoate, monocrotophos, parathion, dicofol, etc., for the control of pests on medicinal materials, while low-toxic pesticides Few people are interested. Some Chinese herbal medicines suffer from more than a dozen pests and diseases during their growth. To ensure bumper crops, farmers fight drugs almost once a week, and they often use several highly toxic pesticides for compounding purposes, especially during severe pests. The concentration of pesticides is doubled, and even insects and insects fight drugs. During the growing period, the number of times the drug was fired was as high as 20 or even more than 30 times. Medicinal farmers use high concentrations, spray carbofuran granules, etc. As a result, natural enemies that cause a large number of diseases and insect pests are killed, the resistance of pests and diseases increases, the cost of prevention and control becomes more and more difficult, and at the same time it also pollutes the environment of soil, water, etc. in the production areas of medicinal materials, and the production of drug materials brings about continuous harm. The formation of a vicious cycle that is difficult to reverse has made the quality of medicinal herbs worse and worse.

Concerns 3: The pesticide market is chaotic, with unknown ingredients and counterfeit pesticides. In the pesticide market in China, there are more than 200 types of pesticides. Except for imported pesticides and a few domestic pesticides that have been marked with trade names, generic names, and chemical structures, most of the domestic pesticides are mixed pesticides. Only the Chinese name is marked, but the active ingredient or group Unknown. What is more, some unscrupulous people make and sell fake pesticides, delaying the prevention of pests and diseases, increasing the difficulty of prevention and control and causing undue economic losses to farmers.

Medicinal herbs should have been used to treat diseases, but herbs containing pesticide residues are likely to pose even greater threats to the disease. Failure to attach importance to or solve this problem will affect the development of the Chinese medicine industry in the long run. The solution to this problem lies in the establishment of a large-scale, standardized traditional Chinese medicine production base, and vigorously carry out research on standardized production techniques of Chinese herbal medicines. Large-scale and standardized production is the prerequisite and fundamental guarantee for the stability and controllability of Chinese herbal medicines. It is distinctly different from the one-pearl households in the management and operation of Chinese herbal medicines. It has great controllability, and plant protection work is also easy to carry out. . It is reported that at present, China is currently drafting the "GAP" for quality control of Chinese medicinal materials, which will control the use of pesticides in the cultivation of medicinal herbs. I hope this "Specification" will lead to the abuse of pesticides in the production of Chinese medicinal materials. Changed.
